Why does my hot tub keep tripping the GFCI breaker?
The most common cause in San Diego is a heater element leaking current to ground — often accelerated by coastal corrosion or hard-water scale. Failing pumps, waterlogged air blowers and damaged wiring are next. Isolation testing finds the culprit quickly.
Is it safe to keep using my spa if the breaker only trips occasionally?
No. A tripping GFCI is doing its job — detecting current going somewhere it shouldn’t, possibly through the water. Shut the spa down and have it tested before using it again.
